Following are a few examples of client successes that Barrett McBride & Associates has helped to facilitate.
Organizational Development/Management Consulting
- A mid-sized law firm has a committee of senior partners and others who meet each month to discuss business development opportunities. Historically, their monthly brainstorming sessions often produced great ideas that languished without follow-up. The firm retained Barrett McBride to facilitate the meetings, work with the managing partner to create the agenda, conduct research and to work with the appropriate attorneys to propose, plan and execute marketing strategies developed in meetings. After 10 years, the firm grew in size from 20 to nearly 50 attorneys, and from one to four offices, each integrated into the business development meeting process. Media relations strategies, targeted practice group marketing, greater results from cross-selling, expanded speaking opportunities, new practice areas, an emerging marketing-based culture, web site and brochure development, and a monthly firm newsletter, are among the results of this relationship.
Strategic Business Development
- A client sought to connect with a certain market segment by conducting a joint seminar with a statewide trade association. While he had a good relationship with the staff of the association, he did not have the time or resources to develop a program on his own. Barrett McBride & Associates was hired to act as a liaison between the company and the trade association to: facilitate initial meetings with staff of both organizations, to develop an agenda and brochure, select speakers, coordinate deadlines and timing of the event and to follow-up with all speakers to be sure presentations met the association’s timelines. The initial seminar far surpassed the association’s projections in attendance, has become an annual event, has brought new clients to the client company, and is viewed as an exceptional opportunity for the company to meet prospective clients.
The founder & CEO of a mid-sized service organization was feeling overworked & burned out six years into a business that had experienced phenomenal growth. He was on the verge of giving up, selling out or retiring. Through his coaching engagement with Barrett McBride & Associates, he realized that he needed a restructuring that allowed him the freedom to do what he did best—establish vision and sell—and to hire qualified people to handle the aspects of the business that he was less suited for—primarily the administrative aspects. In addition to leadership coaching, we worked with him to develop a successful, focused marketing strategy that engaged the entire organization. As a result, the organization was able to handle its continued growth the CEO had renewed enthusiasm and learned that he can lead and hold the vision for the company while establishing an environment for his employees that fosters growth of their expertise.
- The CEO of a non-profit organization that was growing rapidly and in need of a new direction to maintain success, was frustrated that the board of directors and senior staff of the organization were not in alignment with their roles and were having difficulty establishing goals in the turbulence of change. Working with the CEO, McBride & Associates facilitated a retreat that brought the staff and board together to develop an understanding of the overriding mission for the organization and to establish goals for each division. As a result, the staff established executable goals for each division with the counsel of board members, who in turn provided ongoing support. Six months later most of the short term goals were achieved with a renewed cohesiveness and understanding between the CEO, the board and the senior staff.
